EPC (PEB) and CertIBEau: what is mandatory

The EPC (PEB) certificate (energy performance of buildings) is mandatory to sell or rent out a home in Wallonia and Brussels. It shows the energy performance of the home and its label, from A++ to G. It is valid for 10 years. BELOR has it carried out by an approved partner EPC certifier.

During the visit, the certifier records the volumes and the walls, floors and roofs of the building. The more acceptable evidence you provide (invoices, technical data sheets, construction photos), the more closely the result reflects your actual home.

In Wallonia, CertIBEau has been mandatory since 1 June 2021 for every new connection to the public water supply (new build or major modification).

Selling? Request the electrical inspection at the same time: it is also mandatory for the sale of a home.
