When should you have your gas installation inspected?
An inspection is mandatory to open a gas meter. Your installer first carries out a leak test and gives you an Elgacert report (for new installations). The inspection body then checks compliance with the NBN D51-003 and/or NBN B61-002 standards and issues the final report.
An inspection is strongly recommended when you replace a boiler, and recommended for any modification of the installation: replacement of pipework or a flexible hose, repairs, etc. There is no mandatory gas inspection when a property is sold.
During the inspection, the inspector carries out a leak test and checks the pressure drop calculation. The installation must be finished, connected and ready for the test.
BELOR inspects natural gas, propane and butane (LPG) installations whose boiler(s) total 70 kW maximum: for propane and butane (NBN D51-006 standard), compliance and inspection intervals are the same as for natural gas. We also inspect LPG tank installations, anywhere in Belgium.
